Abstract
Transposition of the great arteries (TGA) is a congenital heart defect in which there is malalignment of the aorta and pulmonary artery where the right ventricle (RV) gives rise to the aorta and the left ventricle (LV) gives rise to the pulmonary artery. Therefore there is atrioventricular concordance and ventricular–great vessel discordance, and the result is systemic cyanosis. There are three main categories of TGA:
