Abstract

Prostate cancer (PC) is the most frequently diagnosed cancer and ranks second among cancers associated with mortality in men. Adenocarcinoma of the prostate accounts for 95 % of cancers arising from the prostate gland. Primary tumors of the seminal vesicles (SVs) are exceedingly rare. Reported benign tumors include cystadenoma, papillary adenoma, leiomyoma, teratoma, neurilemmoma, and epithelial stromal tumor. Primary malignant neoplasms of the SV include adenocarcinoma (most common), leiomyosarcoma, angiosarcoma, müllerian adenosarcoma-like tumor, carcinoid, seminoma, and cystosarcoma phyllodes. The main diagnostic difficulty associated with seminal vesicle neoplasms is in distinguishing them from secondary invasion of the seminal vesicles by malignant tumors of adjacent organs.
