Abstract
Ludi is a software system written specifically for this project to play, measure and generate new games within the scope of its own game description language. This chapter describes the structure and operation of Ludi, how it understands and plays games, and concludes with an experiment designed to establish player rankings for a set of known source games. The main components of Ludi are:
-
Game description language: Defines the scope of games.
-
General game player: Interprets games and coordinates play.
-
Strategy module: Informs move planning.
-
Criticism module: Measures game quality.
-
Synthesis module: Generates new games.
You have to learn the rules of the game.
And then you have to play better than anyone else.
