Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to give details of a computer program that was developed to store and audit information on surgical patients. Particular emphasis will be given to the way in which data were collected, the form in which they were stored and the presentation of subsequent analyses. Since there are many readily available publications covering the theory of computer programming the finer details of the programming involved will not be given, except where this clarifies the text.
