Abstract

Since Cushing and Bovie introduced the use of the electricity to facilitate coagulation in 1926 [1], the use of energy has become a vital component of modern-day operating. This is particularly true in laparoscopic surgery, where our quest to eliminate incisions, while improving efficiency, has led to the development of a variety of energy devices that can seal and divide tissue.
