Quality Management in ART Clinics

Abstract

A successful quality management system is based on written and approved policies that address all areas of the ART laboratory. The system is implemented from defined goals, objectives, quality indicators, and performance measures designed to develop initiatives for quality improvement and are documented in the Quality Manual. Data collection begins when a system component is put into practice with continuous monitoring and evaluation sustaining the QMS. Documented review of the QMS with appropriate follow-up ensures continuing suitability of policies and procedures and effectiveness of corrective action. For each phase of the QMS, there are components that are relatively easy to address as well as many challenges and setbacks that must be countered and overcome.
