Abstract
This fungus is a rare but important cause of gastrointestinal infection. Virtually all patients with gastrointestinal cryptococcosis have hematogenously disseminated disease with multisystem organ involvement, and most have associated pulmonary and meningeal disease. Cryptococcosis is associated with AIDS as well as other immunosuppressive states.
