Abstract
Over the years, our students have chosen a great variety of independent projects in the Chemical Ecology courses. Some such as those with dogs, cats, or mice can be done in most places, while others took advantage of special facilities (e.g. fish hatchery) or animal species available to a particular student (e.g. captive reptiles). All studies stimulated discussion and spawned ideas for further research, whether they were basic or applied, field studies, or indoor projects. Here are some of the topics that were successfully completed with great enthusiasm in more recent courses. It should be noted that the courses focused on vertebrates.
