Abstract
I may be a little prejudiced about this, but I think that handling device-based data is where the real power of SQL CE comes into play. After all, a Pocket PC, and yes I realize that the.NET Compact Framework is for more than Pocket PC development, is made to be mobile. It is supposed to be disconnected from the network so that you can walk around your warehouse, yard, house, or whatever and be able to make notes about the inventory on the shelves or the condition of your garden. When you and I used the eMbedded Visual Tools to write applications, having our data disconnected from the server was the default. We had, for the most part, Pocket Access and that was it. When we dropped the device into a cradle, the data was synchronized back to a database on our desktop and the world was fine.
