Abstract
Many human activities cause the release of synthetic hazardous substances into the marine environment or the redistribution of naturally occurring substances. This can result in the contamination of the marine environment with substances that have a deleterious effect on marine life. This chapter selects and discusses some pollutants that are currently of concern in the marine environment.
