Abstract
In this chapter, I examine how the mathematicians go about finding and working on their research problems. Having found a problem on which to work, is that work done alone, as the stereotype of mathematicians would have us believe, or with others? What does this say about the cultural climate within mathematics? What role does competition play in this? This chapter answers these questions.
