Abstract
A high pole number, PM synchronous motor is presented, employing novel two-layer, special armature windings consisting of concentrated coils wound around the stator teeth. This kind of machine is characterized by excellent e.m.f. and torque waveform quality: it is well suited not only as an inverter driven motor, but also for mains feeding, self-starting, applications. In the paper, the main features of the machine are shown, together with some design, FEM, and test results.
