Abstract

Design characteristics of steel-cored PMLSM (Permanent Magnet Linear Synchronous Motor) are presented. Particularly, dynamic constraints resulted from repeated short-stroke travel are applied to the design criteria determining the machine specification. In addition, distinctive undesirable feature of detent force in steel-cored PMLSM and its notable minimizing methods based on manufacturing feasibility are considered. The designed machine is manufactured and tested for the verification.
