Abstract
The idea of capturing sound memories and combining them with images may appear exotic when applied to photography. However, these notions have been evident in different forms from the very inception of the modern mass media. Furthermore, the technological elements for handling different kinds of sound and image data are all readily available today.
“For the purpose of preserving the sayings, the voices, and the last words of the dying member of the family — as of great men — the phonograph will unquestionably outrank the photograph” (Edison 1878).
