Sugar Metabolism

  • Chapter
Secondary Plant Metabolism

Abstract

Sugar metabolism in plants is such a vast subject that we cannot hope to include every aspect in this chapter. In order to cover as wide a field as possible, carbohydrate types, rather than individual compounds, will be discussed. However, exceptions are made for the more important carbohydrates such as fructose, glucose, sucrose, ascorbic acid, starch and cellulose. More detailed information can be obtained from the books listed in the bibliography.
