Abstract

It is not necessary here to provide an exhaustive examination of classical Greek reflections on the division of labour, but merely to elucidate some central themes based mainly on the writings of Plato and Aristotle. Moreover, the obvious epistemological and political differences between these authors are not especially relevant to this discussion, which seeks only to identify a broad discursive structure within which their conceptualisation of the division of labour acquires its significance.
