Abstract

Contributions to the administration of an Apollo network may be made by each member of a team of professional programmers. Since each person then becomes responsible for the overall operation of the system, the network is used to its full potential and the security requirements may be kept to a minimum. The network users may, however, be mainly non-computer specialists, or individuals working upon various confidential projects. In this case it becomes necessary for one person to be in sole charge of the operation of the system, and security is important for the protection of files both from corruption, and from access by non-authorised users.
