Abstract

The study of computing is the study of information processing. We have, at some length, investigated the analysis of problems in information processing and the design of solutions. Our investigations have been guided by the techniques available in programming languages on present-day computers. We have mentioned briefly the role of the electronic digital computer in the execution of programs, but it will not have escaped your attention that a program is merely a fully specified design, which could be executed equally by a team of human information processors.
