Abstract
In Chapter 9, we formulated the fundamental laws of geometrical optics using the Lagrangian formalism. It is well known that any theory expressed in Lagrangian terms can also be (equivalently) formulated via the Hamiltonian formalism, with significant advantages. This chapter describes this new formalism together with its consequences.
