Abstract
So far in this volume we have mostly focused on bases, which provide unique series representations of vectors in Banach spaces in terms of the basis vectors. Intuitively, uniqueness seems to be important, if not essential, to any practical use of series representations. Yet in many applications uniqueness turns out to be more of a hindrance than a help. For example, suppose that is a basis for a Banach space.
