Résumé
L’ubiquité de la notion de G-torseur (ou G-espace principal homogène) en mathématiques provient de sa double nature: nature géométrique d’une part, qu’il n’y a pas lieu d’illustrer ici tant les exemples abondent dans les domaines les plus divers, et nature cohomologique d’autre part, liée à l’interprétation de l’ensemble des classes d’isomorphisme de G-torseurs comme premier groupe de cohomologie à valeurs dans G. C’est, en définitive, la flexibilité apportée par cette seconde interprétation, avec son cortège de suites exactes longues, qui rend aisée l’étude dans de nombreuse situations de l’objet géométrique de départ.
