Abstract

This short review focuses on precision polymerization using mesoporous silicate materials for the formation of controlled macromolecular architectures. Synthesis and modification of mesoporous silicates are overviewed briefly in relation to the development of designer polymerization catalysts, and then the following points are highlighted: catalytic activity, control of primary and higher-order structures of polymers, and fabrication of silica/functional polymer nanocomposite materials with emphasis on confinement effects on polymer properties.
