Abstract
An overview of a widely used description format for Virtual Reality on the Web (VRML) is presented. Basic principles as well as useful tricks for creating dynamic virtual worlds are illustrated by a number of examples. Other competitive languages for VR (QuickTimeVR, ActiveVRML) are compared with VRML. Possible future extensions and expectations are discussed.
