Abstract
IT STARTED WITH Joe and Barbara Carlisle, who played sandlot baseball with their sons and daughters and a few neighborhood kids. Soon a handful of youngsters grew to about forty, and Joe formed a team and became its coach. But he could not convince neighboring teams to visit because his ballpark was a rundown open field. “Our goal,” Freear says, “was to find the team a home.”
