Abstract

Julie snow Architects was selected to design three of thirteen light-rail transit stations for the city of Minneapolis. Each station responds to neighborhood qualities using a common structural systems—glass, light, and movement. A simple post-and-beam structure insets the columns and forms an interior waiting area and passenger-loading platforms on each edge. To reduce the section of the beam, a double beam is used. The slightly shorter height of the lower beam strengthens the cantilever.
