Abstract
With the continuing demand for increasingly efficient magnetic materials for technological applications, the theoretical and experimental effort aimed at the development of novel magnetic materials has increased dramatically in recent years. Of particular interest are artificial materials whose properties are governed by reduced dimensionality in the nanometer length scale, e.g., soft magnetic nanocrystalline alloys, metallic multilayers exhibiting the giant magnetoresistance effect, nanopowders, and rapidly quenched permanent magnets.
