Abstract
CETI has carried out research and design activities to develop combined circulating fluidized bed and fuel cell technology. The first in Ukraine Fuel Cell Test Installation (FCTI) for research of polymeric, molten carbonate, phosphoric acid, and solid oxide fuel cells with electrical capacity up to 3 kW at atmospheric and elevated pressure was created in CETI. Molten carbonate fuel cell was developed in CETI and tested via natural gas reforming at FCTI. Non-catalytic and catalytic steam gasification of Ukrainian, American and Australian coals in dense and fluidized beds was studied for generation of synthesis-gas with the high hydrogen content (up to 62 vol. %). The software for fast estimation of the installation operation was created. CETI and State Rocket Design Office “Southern” have prepared the design documentation for Ukrainian coal pyrolysis & gasification PCFB pilot plant with thermal capacity up to 10 MW for future application in new hybrid co-generation SOFC power plant.
