Abstract.
Endless proliferation and metastasis are two biological properties of cancer cells. The invasion of cancer cells is an important and characteristic step of metastasis. The inhibition of these biological events will prolong the life span of hosts with cancers. Thus, the effects of food extracts and components on the proliferation and invasion of hepatoma (AH109A) cells were investigated using in vitro proliferation and invasion assay systems. Some vegetable foods have proved to contain effective and bioavailable components suppressing the proliferation and/or invasion of the hepatoma cells in vitro.
