Abstract
Vesicular and bullous skin diseases are chronic blister-forming diseases of unknown etiology. The breaks in continuity within the epidermis or at the dermal-epidermal junction which give rise to the formation of blisters can arise during the course of life as a result of a genetic defect or, if there is none, as a result of immunological events. The individual bullous dermatoses differ in pathological mechanism.
