Abstract

That I am so slow to return to a task interrupted for a long time, is due partly to a journey, partly to the very poor health of friends. Wandering indeed in the noblest cities in adjacent provinces required much time and from our journey we brought Hasebard ill with us back to Leiden; in Amsterdam we found Walgenstein [or Walgesten] seriously ill and in bed. Thus visiting alternately either this one in Amsterdam, or that other one in Leiden, we could not devote as much time to our business as we wanted. However, both are recovering, Hasebard with the help of Borch, Walgenstein with that of Borri.
