Abstract
The use of gas-static piston suspension in internal combustion engines for vehicles and power units is considered. A diagram of the piston is shown. A method is developed for calculating the rigidity and carrying capacity of the gas layer that surrounds the piston. Experimental results confirm the viability of the method. Gas-static centering of the piston in the engine is a practical possibility.
