Investigation of regularties in formation of porous ice

Abstract

The article gives experimental data on the rate of water freezing and formation of cylindrical and spherical gas inclusions appearing in ice during cooling of water, which is in equilibrium with the atmosphere. Proposed are theoretical models describing changes of the aggregate state of water, concentration of gas and formation of porous ice. The article also analyzed the shape and size of appearing gas inclusions.
