The information society: an attempt to comprehend the sense of the concept

Abstract

This article considers the problem of the interpretation of the concept of the information society. The premises of the appearance of this term and the main approaches to its interpretation are analyzed. In the context of terminological analysis the concepts of informatics, information processes, information technologies and the process of informatization are comprehended. As a result of the analysis the author’s interpretation of the concept of the information society, the conceptual aspect of which is the automatization of information processes, is given.
