Abstract

The paper presents the studies of mono- and multicomponent nitride vacuum and plasma coatings (Ti100 − x Al x )N, etc. at interrupted cutting. The contact processes during milling and the effect of the coatings on cutting forces, coefficient of friction, tool surface tension, and tool vibration due to variable tangential forces are considered. The influence of the coatings on abrasive wear resistance and resistance to cracking at variable thermal power loading is proved.
