Abstract
Over the last 15 years, Russia has been discussing the necessity to switch to a knowledge-based economy. It has been declared that there is no alternative to this approach. What do we see in reality, however? Is a country whose economic life is based on exploiting natural resources rather than on the advantages provided by human potential and scientific achievements capable of innovative development? In analyzing the role of knowledge workers in the economies of various European countries, the authors of the article published below reach the conclusion that Russia is a bright example of a “warped knowledge society.”
