Abstract

An equation which relates the output signal of an electrostatic dispersion analyzer and the energy distribution function of the charged particles entering it is derived with the fluctuations of the potentials on the defecting electrodes taken into account. Solutions of this equation are obtained. The influence of noise on the instrumental functions of analyzers is considered.
