Abstract

KNOWLEDGE of the mechanisms involved in leukocyte locomotion is limited. Although it is known that amoebae require a nucleus for locomotion1,2 no similar studies have been done with leukocytes. Nothing precise is known about the cellular factors involved in the perception of a chemotactic gradient and the translation of this information into directional migration. We have investigated this problem using anucleate cytoplasmic fragments and heat-polarised granulocytes.
