Abstract
WE report results from ocean bottom seismographs (OBS)1 and sonobuoys, in which unreversed refraction lines have been shot along and across the median valley of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. P-wave arrivals indicate a structure under the median valley with layer 2 overlying 7.3 km s−1 mantle. Under the mountains on the ridge crest P and S arrivals suggest that layer 2 overlies layer 3, which in turn overlies 7.3 km s−1 mantle.
