Abstract
A model is proposed in which the chromomere in the chromosomes of higher cells contains information on the frequencies of different alleles in the population. Its molecular basis is a master–slave arrangement with the slaves derived from previous meiotic partners. The model can explain several features of the genetic adaptation of higher organisms.
