Normal Immune Responses of Bursaless Chickens to a Secondary Antigenic Stimulus

Abstract

Hormonal bursectomy—inhibition of the development of the bursa by testosterone—has been more effective than surgical bursectomy coupled with irradiation in depressing the primary response to soluble antigens. None of the treated birds was agammaglobulinaemic, and all formed some antibody.
