Abstract
PATIENTS with the carcinoid syndrome typically show high blood levels of 5-hydroxytryptamine and increased urinary excretion of 5-hydroxyindolyl-3-acetic acid. Variants of the tumour have, however, been described in which the major secretion is 5-hydroxytryptophan1.
