Abstract

ENSANIAN1 has observed that concentrated hydrochloric acid alone, or a mixture of hydrochloric acid, alcohol and zinc dust, caused rapid failure of a stressed nylon strip. In this connexion the results of some work we have been doing independently should be of interest.
