Abstract
SEVERAL authors have performed investigations on metadrenaline and normetadrenaline, metabolites of catecholamines, since their discovery by Axelrod1. Previous work, however, dealt mostly with the urine of rats2, in which relatively large amounts of the metabolites are excreted, or the isotope tracer of authentic methoxycatecholamines3 which can be detected easily by their radioactivity. Metadrenaline and normetadrenaline in normal human urine have never been determined quantitatively, because of their very low concentrations. This communication concerns the method of determination of methoxycatecholamines in urine of normal human beings.
