Abstract

BY the use of modern electron optical techniques, the study of structures involving periodic stacking faults (or ‘out-of-steps’ between ‘anti-phase domains’) is making remarkable advances. Some of the most recent reports are referred to refs. 1–5. However, many contributions to this field have hitherto been confined mainly to physically ordered states of binary alloys. Now, in the course of electron diffraction investigation of uranium compounds, I have encountered a new case of fault structure which is connected with a chemical decomposition.
