Abstract

THE fate of antibodies in normal human γ-globulin preparations during storage was studied by Gerlough1, who succeeded in achieving surprising results: the half-time of diphtheria antitoxin in the preparation was 23 years—under strict storage conditions even 40–69 years. Tiselius electrophoresis and ultra-centrifugation did not reveal cleavage or denaturation of the protein molecule.
