Abstract
IT is known that various colloidally or coarsely dispersed systems show anomalous dielectric behaviour. Fricke1 reported that an aqueous dispersion of solid particles or macromolecules showed a striking dielectric dispersion in the audio- and radio-frequency ranges, and he ascribed these effects to the polarization of oriented water molecules bound loosely at or near the surface of the dispersed phase. But the exact nature of the effect has not been established.
