A National Atlas of Britain

Abstract

WTITHIN a few days of the appearance in NATURE of an article upon the proposed National Atlas¹, an afternoon meeting of the Royal Geographical Society devoted to a discussion of the project was opened by the present writer as chairman of the National Atlas Committee. A verbatim report of the proceedings appears in the current (February) number of the Geographical Journal, but since the discussion has already borne practical fruit, and since further arguments for pressing forward with the Atlas have been provided by public events, it appears that a useful purpose will be served by examining the points upon which agreement has been reached.
