Abstract
As was reported by us in a recent note>1>, the monochromatic radiations of the zinc arc, namely, 4680, 4722, 4810 A., diffused longitudinally by liquid glycerine at 26° C., revealed, on either side of the primary lines, the presence of sharply defined displaced components in the spectrum of the scattered light. The spectral shifts of these components is 0.52 cm.>–1>, corresponding to a modulation frequency of 1.53 × 10>10> sec.>–1>.
