Abstract

IN a recent investigation carried out by the writers, with Mr. E. B. Wedmore (see paper read before the Institution of Electrical Engineers on April 7, entitled “A Contribution to the Study of the Number of Tests required to establish the Rupturing Capacity of an Oil Circuit Breaker”), it was desirable to perform some sampling of a population of Pearson's Type I. As the method used is a simple one and apparently new, and appears to give satisfactory results, a description of it may be of interest.
