Abstract
THIS book is one of a very useful series on nautical subjects, published in order to meet a desire on the part of the officers of the Mercantile Marine to obtain a more scientific insight into the principles of their profession. It is becoming more generally recognised that the really “practical” man is the one who combines practical knowledge and experience with intelligent appreciation of underlying principles.
